Accessibility, WordPress

The European Accessibility Act (EAA)

By June 2025, accessibility will be a legal requirement for most digital services in the EU — including the private sector.

The EAA mandates that services like e-commerce websites and mobile apps be accessible to people with disabilities. Adopted in 2019 and rolled out by EU member states from 2022, it gives businesses until mid-2025 to comply. Miss the deadline, and you risk fines, complaints, and reputational damage — with monitoring and enforcement mechanisms in place.

But accessibility is more than just a compliance issue. It’s a statement of inclusion and fairness. A site that works for everyone shows respect for your audience and builds brand trust.

It also improves the experience for all users: faster loading times, clearer navigation, cleaner code — all of which boost usability and search visibility. With WordPress and accessibility-focused frameworks, meeting these standards is entirely achievable.

In short, accessibility isn’t just about ticking a legal box. It’s about creating a website that’s ethically right, practically smart, and commercially sound.
